Handbrake doesn't work!?! try this!

Handbrake wasn’t working at all for me since the update of 7/12/2020 tried the various posts listed here no success and then finally did this today. Out of desperation I installed Avidemux. It brings with it libfdk-aac2 once that lib is in Handbrake works. While I don’t use 15.2 I’ve seen similar complaints for it this may also work for 15.2 if you are a 15.2 Leap user and successfully use this to please post it here!

For those who wonder how I found this it was one of those things that was obvious handbrake puts fdk-aac right there on its summary page. When I installed Avidemux yast asked me if I wanted to put install libfdk-aac2 as dependencies for Avidemux I click yes then remembered seeing the fdk on hand brake.
Then I tried on handbrake and it worked!

This suggests that the package dependcies are wrong. You might want to make a bug report.

Hi
Looking at the build log and spec file fdk-acc is enabled, don’t see it in the final requires so likely an upstream issue…

I am wondering. Never tinkered with my installs, but:

It was done out of desperation so I don’t ordinarily do that either but it was just one of those times where I noticed an odd thing so “when in odd land think as the oddlanders would.”

@nrickert & malcolmlewis

Yes a bug report maybe in order but who gets it the Opensuse bugzilla or Packman?

Had a closer look when updating to 20200806 and found that handbrake indeed needs to be fixed. You may ask enzokiel{at)kabelmail{dot}de

erlangen:~ # rpm -q --changelog handbrake-cli|head
* Thu Jul 16 2020 enzokiel{at)kabelmail{dot}de
- Disable mfx, handbrake crashes with message
  "Illegal Instruction (core dumped)"

* Fri Jul 10 2020 enzokiel{at)kabelmail{dot}de
- Enable mfx for Leap 15.2.

* Mon Jun 15 2020 enzokiel{at)kabelmail{dot}de

Just to add that I was having the same problems using Handbrake and glad I saw this this thread. Using the above info, I realised that libfdk-aac2 wasn’t installed in my version of Tumbleweed. Used YaST Software Manager to install this by itself and Handbrake is now working.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Handbrake wasn’t working at all for me considering the replace of 7/12/2020 tried the a number of posts listed right here no success and then sooner or later did this today. Out of desperation I hooked up Avidemux. It brings with it libfdk-aac2 as soon as that lib is in Handbrake works. While I do not use 15.2 I’ve viewed comparable complaints for it this may additionally additionally work for 15.2 if you are a 15.2 Leap consumer and efficaciously use this to please publish it here!

For these who surprise how I observed this it was once one of these matters that used to be apparent handbrake places fdk-aac proper there on its precis page.
