Grub2 for Windows?

Hello everyone,

Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

Grub2 also has a windows version “Grub2 for Windows”…Before I install OpenSuse 13.1 I would like to:

  1. Set up Grub for windows in advance on my Win7 64 bit system.
  2. After I install Opensuse … add it to Grub2 for Win

Will OpenSuse allow me to do this?
I can then keep Grub2 no matter how many times I Uninstall OpenSuse or any other distro.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

What you can do is to install openSUSE bootloader in own partition and use then use Windows grub2 to load openSUSE grub2 (not chainload - it is fragile - but directly load core.img from file system). In this case Windows grub2 will need to be set up only once and automatically pick up any changes on openSUSE side.

But there is no way to tell openSUSE to use different grub.cfg (not on /boot) when modifying bootloader configuration.

Not sure what the supposed advantage of Grub2 for Windows is in this case. If you simply install openSUSE after Windows, openSUSE will install Grub2 anyway. Also some openSUSE tools rely on you using Grub2 for Linux.
