Gnome drops support for Google Drive Integration

Hi just a quick question for the maintainers / Admins on here. I’ve heard and read recently that with Gnome 50 that there will be no support for Google Drive Integration in Gnome.
See this link for detail: https://itsfoss.com/news/gnome-drops-google-drive-support/

I’m currently on Gnome 49 & my Google Drive integration seems to be working at present.
So my question is should I expect this to stop working when Gnome 50 rolls out on Tumbleweed or is possible it will still just work anyway?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or insights on this.

A basic search shows that the support in Gnome 50 got completely removed.

There are a lot of threads (also upstream at Gnome) which explains exactly that…

Unless a maintainer hacks back the unmaintained libraries, it will no longer work.

Looking on Gnome it seems it is this package & related files presumably that is the culprit. `

These are currently provided by openSuse & it mentions a bugs.opensuse, org address as well as a live.gnome one.

So does that mean it will stick around in openSuse or will it get wiped by the Gnome update & if so is there some way I lock that package to keep it on my system?

As already pointed out, the Gnome devs removed the Google files integration. Keeping the unmaintained library, will not enable or keep the file integration.

The file integration for Google will be hidden, unless somebody steps up to maintain or replace the necessary libraries. Only then, maybe, the Gnome devs will enable the integration again.

@jjis yes, it’s no longer in GNOME 50…

OK thanks peeps - my solution will be to access it on the web. I could of course try & get my head around setting up rclone as per this link: rclone

However, that is above my pay grade as an unpaid IT support person for my family!
