I was able to do a fresh install today - wiped my KDE and trying out GNOME50 now, finally.
All working fine so far - all my needed extensions are up-to-date.

Just a heads-up for those using the “GNOME Document Viewer”: it is now called “Papers” and the legacy “Evince” (now at 48.1 in OSS and 49.Alpha in GNOME:Next) is not automatically upgraded to it.
They can co-exist if you like to test and compare:
zypper in papers papers-lang nautilus-extension-papers
Have you tried both of them (evince and “Papers”)? Has “Papers” a better user interface than evince?
Personally i have found difference in the “night mode” between Evince and Papers.
And the annotation tool feels more natural, like you had a real pencil or marker…
But since you can have both, just install “papers” and see for yourself!
