The story is, I am experiencing a funny issue: I can’t trace when, but some day my emojis disappeared.
Thinking that was a Noto Emoji font problem, I reinstalled it with no success.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, cleaned, changed fonts, rebuilt the font cache, and several etceteras, but the problem persists.
Then I found another emoji font: Openmoji, and of course I installed it.
The weird part is that both Noto emoji and Openmoji have B&W and color versions, and the system is able to “render” (I don’t know if that is the proper term) glyphs in black and white but not in color.
Deactivating color versions allowed the apps to display emojis (in B&W, of course).
I also found that it is not a problem of some specific app but the entire system; all the issues and tests are visible right in the KDE font manager.
Short sentence: My KDE can’t display color emojis
As far as I could investigate, I’ve seen that there are some similar issues reported in this forum since the beginning of times, but none of them have a clear solution to pick (some of them have even no answers at all).
So, any insight that could help me?
