Hi.
I tryed install my wireless USb device with ndiswrapper using windows *.inf file without succes and tryed typing /sbin/lsusb -v as both root and user without any succes. My Suse version is 11.0.
By using yast and looking up hardware information about my usb device it said my drivers where: hso and i saved whole hardware information to disk if you need more information.
This is my second atempt trying to install my wireless usb device, this time using yast/network devices/network settings and at the start it ask me if I wanna modprobe ndiswrapper.
Either choices ends up in Yast trying to get updates from the net for my changes in the network settings. This is the sites yast is trying to get the updates from: Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/oss , Index of /update/11.0 and Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/non-oss .
Does someone know exactly what files yast wants and how to implement them?
having not used the device in question, i can only speculate atm. When using ndiswrapper you need the .inf,.sys & .cat files in the same folder. My own how-to may give you some ideas to help Stuntmanandys openSUSE/SuSE forum • View topic - Ndiswrapper & wireless As for trying to connect to repositories, try temporarily disabling your repositories, see if that helps,it should only ask for the dvd .
When I try to add a new repository from my open suse CD it says: "unable to create repository from URL ‘cd:///’. Same things happens when I try to change language thru yast. It says wrong media inserted and it tryes go thru the webpages.
I did your “how to” with ndiswrapper but the .inf driver installed is wrong and when I go into system service with yast to check if ndiswrappper is accepted It don’t apear as a service.
you need to add ndiswrapper to YaST - system - /etc/sysconfig editor - modules_loaded_on_boot. see if that helps. Make sure the .inf driver is for XP,as Vista drivers are incompatible with ndiswrapper
