I have found good and free normal map generator plugin for Gimp. It is made for Ubuntu linux ver. 12.10 (64 bit). From registry.gim.org. Does it works under Opensuse 13.1 with gimp 2.8?
should i install any extra libraries or files?

Yes it is different.It makes also height maps,diffuce,displacement maps etc… It is like Crazy Bump but free
