Getting ttf fonts in Leap 16.0

Hi

Have just upgraded from Leap 15.6 to 16.0

I was previously using a number of MS ttf fonts (e.g. Arial) for compatibility with Windows users.
I can’t remember how they were installed…

The package fetchmsttfonts is not longer available.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks,
Andrew

fetchmsttfonts.sh is just a shell script. Simply run it.

fetchmsttfonts is available here fetchmsttfonts-12.0-lp160.49.3.noarch.rpm
Please download locally and install, do not use the one click installer.
(And as @arvidjaar suggests, it is just a script, so if you have a local version, just run it).

Be aware of the fact that, beyond sharing the same name, the Times New Roman, Arial and co. that you’ll get after running that script have no relation with the modern versions shipped with MS products: since their release, microsoft changed metrics, character set, font features, and, specially, licenses of the new fonts so you’ll not get “compatibility” from that package, just some really ancient files created well before the OpenType standard. You’ll be better off (even if they are far from perfect) with the font substitutions offered by LibreOffice.
