Getting ONN 1440p Webcam to do audio

A friend in the U.S. gifted me a brand new onn 1440p webcam. I managed to get it to detect the video with guvcview, but I can’t seem to get it to detect the microphone. Apparently onn is manfactured exclusively for Walmart and of course they are targeted to Windows users as plug’n’play devices and there is no mention of RPM support.

Am I flogging a dead horse and better to go and get a Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam, which is known to work in Tumbleweed or can I get this cheap Walmart webcam to work properly?

If you install pavucontrol (Pulse Audio Control) that should show you whether the microphone is detected. Sometimes I find that, if there is already one microphone detected, any other is muted.

It detects but mic input is still muted. I’m sure the mic is working, since the webcam is new. Thanks for your suggestion.

So try to to un-mute it? :wink:
