Gdm display manager is lost

gnome v47.0
linux 6.11.2-1-default x86_64

With the most recent Tumbleweed update (20241010) the login screen has reverted to xdm from gdm. I tried installing gdm:

$ sudo zypper in gdm
Retrieving repository 'Packman-Tumbleweed' metadata .........................................................................[done]
Building repository 'Packman-Tumbleweed' cache ..............................................................................[done]
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
'gdm' is already installed.
No update candidate for 'gdm-47.0-1.1.x86_64'. The highest available version is already installed.
Resolving package dependencies...
Nothing to do.

Hmm. I tried to change the display manager:

$ sudo update-alternatives --config default-displaymanager
There are 2 choices for the alternative default-displaymanager (providing /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/default-displaymanager).

  Selection    Path                                  Priority   Status
------------------------------------------------------------
* 0            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/xdm       10        auto mode
  1            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/console   5         manual mode
  2            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/xdm       10        manual mode

Press <enter> to keep the current choice[*], or type selection number: ^C

If gdm is installed, where is it?

Legacy part was split off into gdm-xdm-integration.

Okay. Got it installed.
Thank you.

or just do systemctl enable --now gdm I do believe.
