Introduction. I want to play Robotron 2084 through MAME,
The original arcade machine has two joy sticks.
One for the direction you walk, one for the direction you shoot.
Linux Drivers Surprisingly, other than Windows 10, Linux is the only OS in the list to include native support for the Xbox One Controller. If your distro is running any kernel version past 3.17, you are good to go. SteamOS also has support for the controller.
My Xbox one controller is in, can’t wait to try it, but as another topic of mine shows, I am having a problem to get mame working.
I might test it tomorrow though with F1 2017. Once tried that game with a keyboard, and that was no fun.
If I get bored one day, I might try if I can get my momo steering wheel working on Linux for racing games.
There are rumours it can be done.
Been thinking about it, but also to just use windows 10 for that. The reason my pc is dual boot is games in the first place.
And that list is getting shorter and shorter thanks to Linux and Valve.
Been on openSUSE for years now, and I do remember the shock that went through some of the Linux world.
Wait what now ? People want to game on Linux?
I just played Robotron 2084 in mame with my xbox one controller.
Will take allot of getting used too, and maybe I need to change the joysticks, swap which one is for move and which one is for shooting.
Either I just suck at it after many years, or there is some muscle memory left, because I keep using the move joystick for the direction I want to shoot.
So instead of shooting the robot, I walk into it. rotfl!
Also will test if using the d pad i maybe easier.
Btw, how many drivers did I install to use this controller? Zero.
Not sure about this game actually. If you are going to use an emulator to play this game then you only need to configure the controller for that particular emulator.
