Fujifilm Finepix S2000HD and USB

Hi!

First excuse me my bad english please.

I have a Fujifilm Finepix with USB cable. With openSUSE 11.1 I could plug the USB cable, started up the camera and showed me a window with the contents (automatically mounted device). The problem is that with version 11.2 that does not happen, and it even came to see the creation of any device in /dev to mount it manually.
This happens to me with both KDE and Gnome.

This is the dmesg message when I plug the USB cable:

Nov 14 19:48:59 toomany kernel: [23321.836676] usb 3-2: USB disconnect, address 2
Nov 14 19:49:54 toomany kernel: [23376.476064] usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5

Please, anybody have any idea about it?

Thank you!

it’s a strange world; I haven’t made the cosmic leap to 11.2 yet but booting a liveCD of 11.2 I find it recognises instantly a Panasonic camera; (and running su tail -f /var/log/messages shows the nitty-gritty of why it did that); and then unplugging that, and plugging in a Nikon shows it instantly recognises that too; and gets as excited as it did with the Panasonic and wants to open F-spot immediately; so well done Suse developers; it looks great;

so why your problem?

are you connecting your camera directly to a USB 2 port; (connecting through a hub is sometimes a big turn-off for spotting cameras); try direct to a port, if using an intermediary hub;

No, it isn’t connect to a hub (well, only into the usb’s pc). And I connect the camero to a USB 1 & 2 ports, with the same result.
I don’t understand what’s happen… really…

Thank’s.

If you are trying to mount the SD card as storage, did you have a formatted SD card in the camera? It looks like no storage was detected.

Otherwise forget about mounting as storage and connect to the camera using PTP from gphoto or digikam. PTP is more versatile than mounting the storage anyway.

Up today, the camera (or sd card into the camera) automatically was mounted. I will try with gphoto or digikam.

Thank you.

Nice! I’m downloading all pictures from camera to my pc with Digikam.

Thank you very much!!
