Fs.c:121:unknown filesystem error on installing from usb stick 15.5

I had an Ubuntu install that stopped booting (just go to grub). Following some advice tried doing ls on the drives and they all returned unknown filesystem. But, from a live usb, I could access the partitions and they were fine.

Thought I would just try installing opensuse and start from scratch - but two attempts to install have resulted in the error of the title (photo attached).

As it was a fresh install would have thought that it would have created filesystems it needed. Is it obvious what is wrong here?

No. But it is consistent with Ubuntu grub - both fail to detect filesystems. Did you reuse existing filesystems?

I thought I did a fresh install and that it was deleting and recreating the partitions, but I wouldn’t swear that’s actually what happened. This boots if I use the usb to boot from the hard-disk which is s step up from Ubuntu which didn’t seem to be willing to do that (or I got something wrong there).

Is this message something to do with the mbr, or is it the boot partition that’s the issue, can you tell?

You are able to reach your desktop? Then, use the GUI Yast bootloader installer, see if that straightens things out.

I get the same error - I think something may have gone wrong with the uefi partition. I may just turn that off in the bios and set this to load on the mbr if I’ve understood what’s going on…
