Of all the forums (fora) I have ever used, this one is without doubt the most annoying. There is no way of knowing if I am logged in or not. Or of staying logged in. I have NO interest in being a member of Novell or any other discussion group, or of any of the other things unlocked by signing in every other bloody hour. Surely it is not beyond the wit of clever people to allow users of openSuse forums to stay logged in without having to present id at random ‘checkpoints’
I am not quite sure, but when this is about the fact that when you close your last window/tab that is showing a forums page, you will be loged out, then the only thing I can say. Do not close your last window on the forums.
I start the day with loging in into the forums and then iconize that windoe and leave it there for the day. Then I can open/close pages of the forums at will without loosing my login.

Sorry, but we’ve been over this before - the single sign on is staying
for now, as it enables login not just across sites owned by (now)
MicroFocus (at least the ones that were Attachmate companies), but also
within the openSUSE Project.
While that’s not useful to you, it is useful to a lot of other people.
Not having to keep track of separate login information for openSUSE’s
wiki, forums, bugzilla, and so on is a benefit to all involved in the
openSUSE project.
We appreciate your feedback, and are sorry that you find it inconvenient.
If you’re seeing logouts other than every 8 hours or so, then something
is wrong and that needs to be looked into - anyone else seeing that?
As I recall, the idle delay before a forced logout of the session is 8
hours of inactivity (defined as “not accessing a protected resource”).
If it’s that big of a problem for you with the forums, the NNTP interface
provides an alternative that doesn’t have that integration.
