Forum login is completely broken

I tried to get in this morning, and was presented with the login page.

I entered the data, clicked the “login” button. It was like clicking a dead key. Nothing happened.

Cleared all opensuse and novell cookies. Restarted browser. Then tried to get in again. Exactly the same problem. Nothing worked.

I next logged into the bugzilla, and that got me in.

Same problem here as well>:(. I tried it with several different browser, with my tablet, smart phone but to no avail. Going through Bugzilla worked.

It seems that using the Return key nstead of the button works.

(Not a solution, but a bypass. Sort of :frowning: )

What browser are you using?

I tried with Chrome and it seemed to work OK for me.

I tried Firefox (Linux), Opera (Linux and Android), Chromium (Linux and Android) and Dolphin (Android), none of them worked.

Interesting, thanks for that additional info.

OK, I’ve reported this issue to our technical contact, and he’s looked
into it and determined that there was a theming change (something in the
CSS or javascript) that seems to have broken the click.

We’re bringing in the right people to fix it - no ETA yet, but hopefully
it’ll be soon.

In the interim, I’m going to see about putting a forum-wide announcement
up that lets people know they can work around the issue by pressing enter
after entering their password.

**Pressing the Enter key **instead of selecting the login block with your mouse does work. The login selection seems to send off into outer space and has had the very same problem before. Hopefully it will get fixed again.

Thank You,

I am using firefox.

Thanks.

I’m told it should be fixed now, try clearing cache and cookies and
give it a try.

For me on FF it’s now working, but on Chrome it’s not (but I need to try
on another system in case I’ve messed something up on that Chrome
install).

I’ve observed that as well and have reported it. It seems the patch that
was applied has mitigated the issue to a great extent, but hasn’t
completely taken care of it.

And now Chrome is working as well.

Great, thanks for the update.

I’m glad we were able to get it fixed before Monday.

It doesn’t even have any impact on folks like you DD who use NNTP

sure it does…if folks can’t log in they can’t get help, and they go away!

if enough go away i have to switch to a disto still being made.

it was precisely that (folks going away) that caused me to have to
switch from OS/2 to Red Hat (which, i guess the only reasons i left
there was when Fedora cranked up it was kinda flaky…and for YaST)

Thanks, it works here now as well.
