font size in Yast

I’m using a 32" LCD TV for a monitor, and have adjusted the font sizes accordingly (I use the computer from across the room on the couch). My problem is font size in the package manager is tiny, and even up close I can’t really read anything. How would I go about adjusting this? Some of the pop-up window fonts on the taskbar are the same way. When updating/adding software, it would be helpful to be able to see what I’m doing…

I think the Yast ones might be related to the settings of your ‘root’ user… as you are root when viewing them.

How to fix it… I guess log in as root and adjust font-size as usual, relog and see if it’s fixed? (Probably someone will post something in response to this post about never logging in as root and an alternative solution ;))

Log in as root then run qtconfig.

You will probably have to go with a bold face or else you’ll get silk-thread thin fonts.

BAD ADVICE do not log on as root! Do this as a normal user with su.
In a console as normal user type su then root pass then qtconfig.
Same result but safe

Thanks for all the ideas. Hopefully I didn’t do any damage by logging on as root. I was able to fix the problem via that route, so I guess it’s all good.

Glad you got it done but next time do it the way i suggested.
There will be other occasions where you need to run apps with root privileges and better to be safe than sorry

Great stuff! I’ve been squinting at my screen for months lol!

One thing to add though, if you’re using sudo (ie no root password) then you will need to use kdesu or gksu followed by qtconfig.
