Flash fullscreen with Firefox in 64-bit

openSuse 11.0
Firefox
Flash
Hulu video

This one’s a puzzler.

I’m trying to get fullscreen flash video (from hulu) to work without stuttering.

The odd thing is, if I run firefox from my profile, it stutters.

But if I open a terminal, su - to root, and then start Firefox – it works just fine!

Can someone tell me what I should be looking at that makes the difference? And how I can bring them into alignment?

Ok, it gets more puzzling.

I created a brand new user/profile for myself.

Using the new profile Flash fullscreen works fine in both Hulu desktop and from Mozilla.

In fact, it seems like all the apps are snappier, and the graphics on my screen are crisper.

I don’t know what setting I must have tweaked on my old desktop, but its like I disabled hardware acceleration – or something!

The good news is everything works great in this new profile

The puzzling news is what what caused the old profile to have problems?!

That sounds like a job for “diff” over your user configuration
directory trees.
