firefox won't save images with rt-click

11.3, firefox 3.6.8 and kde 4.4.4 r2.

the right-click save image as does not bring up a dialog box. this seems to be an old problem going back to 11.2. found many suggestions but no fix that works. have i missed an update or patch to firefox or kde with my 11.3 install?

can’t “save as” those either. if that is what you wanted me to test.

Yes.

Under Preferences > Applications
Look for .jpg image or search and set it to always ask

not listed. trying to figure out how to add.

I asked this question in another topic. It’s a KDE firefox problem. Use the keyboard shortcuts.

A kde problem that doesn’t exist in my kde for some reason?! @ewhite20: if you type jpg or png in the search field are they not there?

If you rename .mozilla to .mozilla-old
Does that enable it for you?

for the search – no, not there.

i have not rewritten the .mozilla directory. i have rewritten the default profile (several times) in case something brought over from 11.1 caused the problem (passwords, bookmarks, plug-in, etc.) each time, the first save-as would work and then any following would not. just as reported in other threads.

did stumble onto one thing - if you select View Image Info, there is a save-as button in that dialog box that does work.

It was mentioned to be a kde issue.

If that were the case, it would not just cause this in Firefox, so what about other browsers?

Hello to everybody

I had exactly same problem. I was no able to save images from Firefox, so I need to install some extensions to do this job. Now I’m using OS 11.3 with FF 3.6.8 and it’s working fine.

there is not a shortcut for “save image as” that i know of. is there??

the only other browser i have installed is konqueror. at first it would not save either, but that may have been a java issue (security on imdb.com maybe, they have a bunch of jpg’s so i was testing with them.) after fiddling with it, it now saves.

i found a thread, on a ubuntu site i think, that had something about uninstalling some kde-mozilla runtime packages. xulrunner something. system went down last night and i lost the thread. now i can’t find it.

There was a similar thread back in feb. Why don’t you have a look at that?
