firefox stopped playing certain vids, but chrome still plays them.

So Firefox does not play certain vids any more, but chrome still pays them. I tried in yast to switch all packagers to packman, but I am getting a very long list of conflicts, which almost does not seems to end.

How to fix this ?

What does it mean when yast ? zyppper? asks me to install certain packages despite its inferior architect.
Is this a safe option to choose ?

I also changed a setting, so that now packman now has a higher priorrity then other repositories. (I hope this will prevent this problem for the future)

Well, I think people want to see your list of repositories:

LANG=C zypper lr -d

And please, always include the line with the command within the copy/paste. It is only one line more and it tells us what you did. Again we can only guess that, but we should know exactly.

And the LANG=C should be before every command when your system is not in English, but you post in the English part of the forums.

I am in YAST, trying to switch to packman. I am not typing any command nor leaving stuff out. The text you see, is a file generated by yast.

If it is easier for you guys I can use zypper directly but then please tell me the command to change a repository, or were to find it.

You better first read your own repository list. Specially the URLs of course. There are several of them which are the same. Remove the double ones.
Then you should ask yourself why you have several of the others. I understand that you have Packman, but why do you have Factory?
And be very sure you need all those home repos. And when yes, if you need them enabled after you installed the software you (apparently) need from them.

Thank you for confirming I have some repositories twice.

Malcom lewis home is because of P sensor.

For that other home one I will have to look in yast, why I have that one.

Mingw has probably to do with Carla and LMMS.

I will see if I can find, how to switch to packman without yast and report back, because you did not answer that question.

Maybe I should buy some openSUSE book, that tells me all the zypper options.

That is correct. But I advice to first clean up your repo list. Then check what you have from which repo you really need and if there are no things installed beside from those you need from them.

The advice is when you add a repo for a specific product, that you install that package and those the dependencies from that repo and then disable that repo to avoid installing later by incident packages from them that you in fact wanted from the standard repo (which if course to prefer). Every now and then yous can check if that specific product from that repo has a newer version, then enable temporary for the update and then disable again.
When you did not do that disable, you may now have a mess that you first must disentangle before you go further.
Just my idea.

I am worried the cleaning up wont solve the firefox problem, but I will.
When comparing chrome vs firefox plugins, I noticed I have a few in FF but not in chrome. (add blockers)

I need to learn to disable as you said , repositories after I downloaded some lib.

Compiling LMMS is a good example, if LMMS works, I do no need to update the individual libs.

Currently using LMMS from geekos DAW. So no need to compile it myself anymore. I was thinking of joining the LMMS devs, but oh boy.
I thought I would “only” need to learn C, but lmms is far more complicated then that. The GUI is not done in C.

With programs like LMMS and Blender there is this, if it aint broke, don’t fix it.
Updating libs can break things, even though it should not.

Last night suddenly noticed a problem with a vid. Another good reason to first fix the switch to packman issue, after cleaning out my repository list.

I think, I managed to switch to packman (for all but 1 lib).

Firefox is fixed, mplayer is fixed.

There is however one lib left fighting me, which I cant simply de-install: libavcodec59-32bit-5.1.2-38.1.x86_64

I am using Tumbleweed too. But I don’t need this package. You may show the output of “zypper remove --dry-run --clean-deps libavcodec59-32bit”.
