Firefox cannot open some https websites

Ok, I am not new to Linux but new to Suse. I like it but I keep running into weird issues. All the sudden today, I cannot open some https websites. I receive the error…

Your connection is not secure

The website tried to negotiate an inadequate level of security.

www.google.com uses security technology that is outdated and vulnerable to attack. An attacker could easily reveal information which you thought to be safe. The website administrator will need to fix the server first before you can visit the site.

Error code: NS_ERROR_NET_INADEQUATE_SECURITY

I’ve googled it. One site had me go to troubleshooting → application basics → open directory and delete the cert8.db file. I did that. Didn’t work. Still can’t open secure sites. I reset firefox to default settings. Same thing same error. Not sure what to try next. My date and time is set correctly on the PC in case anyone comes to that conclusion.

I originally posted I can’t open any https websites but then just noticed I can open my bank’s website. So, I am not sure how many I cannot. For sure, I cannot open google or gmail. I get the error above.

well, whatever the problem is, it is something specific to Firefox. I just loaded Chrome on the OS and I can open Google using Chrome.

Hi
Is the package ca-certificates-mozilla installed?

Any additional plugins installed in firefox?

Well, I fixed it… sort of. It’s band-aid but permanently. I uninstalled Firefox. Then I downloaded the tar.bz file and extracted it and created links to launch it. Works just as nice. Now when there’s an update to Firefox, I can just delete the extracted folder and just extract a new Firefox to the same spot. And I can open Google in Firefox again.
