Firefox 9 and 11.4

Hi all.

I had a stable install with everything working well. Put machine into storeage for 2 months, whilst moving house. Turn on and all fine. Then stupidly run updates via Kpackage… wish I hadn’t! Mozilla crashes on opening up, going to one website. Completely random. Can’t go into FF to turnoff all add in’s in case that is causing the issue. Removed and reinstalled FF and dependencies… still completely unstable.

in terminal doing zypper se mozzilla noted possible multiple files e.g. mozillafirefox package… and then below mozzilla firefox srcpackage not sure if relevant or not.

basic repos as:

| Alias | Name | Enabled | Refresh

–±------------------±----------------------±--------±-------
1 | KDE:Extra | KDE:Extra | Yes | No
2 | libdvdcss | libdvdcss | Yes | Yes
3 | packman | packman | Yes | Yes
4 | repo-11.4-non-oss | openSUSE-11.4 Non-OSS | Yes | No
5 | repo-11.4-oss | openSUSE-11.4 OSS | Yes | No
6 | repo-11.4-update | openSUSE-11.4 Updates | Yes | No

hope someone can point me in direction to normality…

otherwise I fear clean install time.

thanks

Ben.

That is a bit extreme for one misbehaving app!

Try starting from a terminal in safe mode

 firefox -safemode

Does that work ok?

If necessary, you can rename (or remove) the users ~/.Mozilla directory. Then try launching again.
