I just installed the above from the repositories, and all of my extensions made it over to the new version, but the only plugin that shows up now is Flash the rest are gone; what do I have to do to get the rest of my plugins to show up and work??? I running 64-bit Firefox.
Both Flash websites and Java enabled websites cause the browser to crash. For Java I have to disable it in the preferences. It also does not show up in plugins Cheers! etech97

what repo did you get that from? i’m using FF 4.0b7, from
for me, the extensions i used with stable FF are still listed under
Tools->Add-ons, but they’re disabled, with a note that they aren’t
compatible with this version of FF. that’s not unusual, since most plugins
don’t get ported to beta versions. there exists somewhere a developer
plugin that allows you to override these compatibility issues, but i don’t
consider that a good idea for day-to-day work, since memory leaks and
other unpleasantnesses are likely to occur.
plugins that work with FF 4.0b7 are “Firefox Sync,” “Opensuse Firefox
Extensions,” and “Adblock Plus.”
It showed up in the Mozilla Repo tonight. The plugins I’m talking about is Flash and Java. They both don’t work!!! Cheers! etech97 Oh and also VLC plugin----stuff like that.
Okay it’s just a beta problem…I can see Java enabled websites, and play flash video streams sometimes…lol That’s what you get when you Beta Test;)
I just to figure out how to get VLC into my plugins as I watch News from the local newspaper that requires the VLC plugin. I already tried to re-install it.

with FF 4.07b, from the repo i mentioned in my last message, flash works
fine. a few days ago i tried the nightly snapshot, and after i added a
“plugin” directory with shortcuts to the adobe plugin, flash worked with
that, too.
i’m still wondering from which ‘repo’ you installed 4.08pre…

I think you’re lucky to get that far! All I get is a warning panel saying -
XML Parsing Error: undefined entity
Loctaion: chrome://browser/content/browser.xul
Line Number 400, Column 13:
<button id=“editBookmarkPanelUndoRemoveButton”
I do love the way all these new repositories keep popping up every week or
so. Certainly keeps you on your toes trying to guess which one is the
correct one to use - if there is one.

i’m getting this too now–but only in KDE. when i was running awesome WM,
this error didn’t pop up. if & when i get this figured out some more i’ll
report it somewhere…
With the advent of the “plugin container” approach to plugins such as Flash and Java (since 3.6.4+), the utility of this add-on is more for extensions and themes, but it can help.
> Has anyone gotten this version to work through the repo’s ???
nope, i don’t have time right now trying to figure out what’s wrong; i
suspect it’s got to do something with KDE. for now, since i like to use
the FF pre version (mainly because of it’s tab view, used to be
‘panorama’), i download from http://nightly.mozilla.org/, which works fine
for me.
This error is caused by a broken XUL file of the KDE patches that openSUSE bundles with Firefox. It took me a while to figure this out but finally got it fixed! You can fix it, too, by following these steps:
Copy /usr/lib(64)/firefox/chrome/browser.jar
to your homedir 1. rename browser.jar to browser.zip

This repo has an upgraded version put on it today - 4.0b-33.1-x86_64 - which
turns out to be 4.0b7 (no “pre”). The XML error has been fixed.

Thanks for the update…I updated my computer and everything is working great…except for my Better Face Book plugin…it is supposed to be compatible but it is not working…oh well, it will catch up. I’m happy now!
