When you open the firefox browser watch the desktop artifact
SUSE Paste
sounds like a desktop refresh hw acceleration issue in firefox
So far it’s happening on every install of various Linux OS’s where the update has come thru
I checked my user agent string and i do run a Gecko engine that run Fx18 and everything seems to be fine. I did do a profile migration when changing from 2.14==>2.15 and have turned off hw acceleration in SeaMonkey as flash plugin was causing issues in Dailymotion site
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 SeaMonkey/2.15
Build identifier: 2013010500

Not here.
I use opensuse 12.2 64bit with KDE 4.8.5, firefox from the OSS repo,
nvidia drivers from the nvidia repo and all the latest updates.
No problems at all.

Sure it’s FF18?
My FF says: 18.0.
No problems at all (openSUSE 12.2 and it’s standard KDE).
FF 18.0
No problem here
Same as Chris for versions/sources + intel GM45 graphics + firefox 18. No issues seen on desktop.

just updated to firefox 18 and I too am seeing the artefact - although it only lasts for about 1 second before everything appears as normal.
Running openSUSE 12.2 x86_64, KDE 4.9.5, graphics = intel 45gm
although it only lasts for about 1 second before everything appears as normal.
Correct .
I don’t see it on Tumbleweed, neither with KDE 4.9.5 from the Tw repo, nor with KDE 4.10 RC2, FF = 18
Are you claiming a UFfO sighting?
I always thought you were special…
LOL. Tomorrow I’m restoring the second SSD to the one RC2 is on.
It must be catching… I’m in the process of giving my eeepc a full work over
UFfo?
Unidentified F*#+ing Firefox Object? rotfl!
I’ve just noticed I also see this when launching chromium - but for a much much shorter period of time - perhaps less than a quarter of a second. So it is probably not something specifically related to Firefox 18.
I think you are right
But it’s white space not the desktop (I minimized everything to make sure the desktop was the background it launches on)
