ffmpegthumbs fails to thumbnail certain media files in Dolphin

Hi,

I have noticed that some (but not all) media files are not shown with thumbnails in Dolphin. Those that are not thumbnailing are those with the .avi, .mp4 and .mkv file extensions. Some .flv files are thumbnailing properly (but not all) and virtually all .webm files are thumbnailing fine. I have ffmpegthumbs installed, I also have kffmpegthumbnailer installed. I have also set the thumbnailing settings properly to my knowledge. Here is a screenshot showing what I see when I’m looking at my media files, alongside you can see my thumbnailing settings.

Every single folder on my system has the default view properties of previews to be shown (namely here is the “Adjust view properties” window"):

Now I haven’t the foggiest what I’m meant to do to fix this issue. Does anyone here have one?

Thanks for your time,
Brenton

Forget about kffmpegthumbnailer and remove it.
That’s old, outdated, and won’t work with dolphin/KF5 (it is for KDE4).

You need to have the full-fledged ffmpeg from Packman (and not just the ffmpeg package, but all libraries too).

You probably have added Packman, so please do a full switch to it and it should work:

Well I’ll be, that worked! Thanks a million mate!
