"falkon" and FOX news

I often go to the google News page.

If I click on a FOX news item with “falkon” browser, it never opens. If I then run “top” in a terminal, I see that QtWebEngine is using 100% (actually 101%). If I close the “falkon” tab for FOX, then the QtWebEngine drops back to a low processor usage.

If I instead use “firefox” as a browser, the FOX link opens normally.

To be honest, I only rarely go to a FOX page, because I don’t trust them. But, just the same, this should not be happening.

Hmm, I should probably try this in Tumbleweed (and Plasma 6).

Which version of “falkon” do you use and where did you get it from?
And why Fox “News” :worried:

Versions (from the “about” page):
Application version 23.08.5
QtWebEngine version 5.15.17

This was installed from the standard repos for Leap 15.6.

As for why Fox: – they sometimes have headlines that show up on the google news page. Mostly those headline are click bait, but I sometimes I want to look at what FOX is saying about the topic.

I’ve now tested this. Everything seems to be okay in Tumbleweed.

So it looks as if the problem has been solved upstream. In the meantime, I’m not too concerned.
