evolution issue

Am having trouble with evolution 3.4.4 on suse 12.3. when you move emails from the inbox to a folder it does all these strange background processes which then causes the machine to freeze. anyone any idea what is going on?

What are you doing with Evolution 3.4 on openSUSE 12.3? The official supported version is 3.6. Or are you sure you have openSUSE 12.3, and not 12.2?

I used to experience this but found that the ‘solution’ is to do nothing other than select a different folder and then return to the inbox. The freeze happened if I tried to do anything else to sort out the problem. So I concluded that it was a display update problem. I’ve now upgraded anyway.

Sorry it is evolution 3.6.3

Have just seen that 3.8 is out, is there a repository to update to this version?

You have to update the entire gnome.

If you’re running KDE, there’s only parts of gnome installed to allow Evolution. Wouldn’t updating only parts of gnome cause stability issues? Wouldn’t that prohibit installing any other gnome apps?
