Evolution - emoticons work but not emojis

Hello,

I tried for the very first time to insert an emoji in an email today using Evolution and it displayed a rectangular shape. Emoticons (unsure of the difference) work. Is this a known problem? I’ll file a bug report if not.

I’m using DWM and occasionally XFCE as my desktops and the issue occurs in both (not sure why it wouldn’t).

Thanks for any help or pointers.

Do you have any emoji font e.g. google-noto-coloremoji-fonts installed? Check via Myrlyn or zypper…

Thanks for replying @hui.

I do have the exact fonts you described installed:

It really isn’t a big deal. This could have been going on for years and I simply haven’t noticed.

PS. I’ve read a lot of your posts over the years and you’re very active on this message board. Would you happen to know why my name is grayed-out and my profile is hidden, even though I’ve made it publicly available? Thanks for your time.

It is visible for others. You may need to refresh your session (logout/login) so that you also see it.

Ah, you’re using dark-mode. On mine (light-mode), your name is Black and mine is Gray. When I logout and click on my name, the description says it’s hidden (but not when logged in).

Maybe I have to participate for a certain number of days or something.
