Error message I've never seen before after Tumbleweed updates

"Welcome to emergency mode! After logging in, type “systemctl default” or ^D to try again to boot into default mode. Give root password for maintenance (or press Control-D to continue):

This is the message I got after installing about 280 updates a couple of days ago, including the kernel to 4.6.4-2. I can’t type anything in this emergency mode because no keyboard drivers are loaded. Since I haven’t seen anyone else talking about this error on these forums, I’m wondering what happened. Luckily, 4.6.4-1 is still installed so I’m able to boot into that and have a working system.

Anyone have any ideas?

You need a ps2 keyboard, try your local thrift shop!

There was another kernel update today and that one installed and booted with no problem. I don’t know what happened with the last update, but my problem is now solved.
