Hi,
I moved recently from MacOS to OpenSuSe and am mostly happy with this change. I managed to install everything I needed so far, except for HPLIP.
The hplip
package itself was installed with zypper
but when running hp-doctor
I got the following output:
$ hp-doctor

Done.

This message shows a few errors. The first one (error: HPLIP upgrade is disabled by openSUSE for security reasons, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=853405 - if you like to upgrade HPLIP, use an openSUSE software package manager like YaST or zypper.
) I’d say it’d be innocuous but nevertheless it looks as though I already have the latest version from zypper:
$ sudo zypper up hplip
[sudo] password for root:
Retrieving repository 'Main Update Repository' metadata ..........................................[done]
Building repository 'Main Update Repository' cache ...............................................[done]
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
No update candidate for 'hplip-3.19.12-lp152.1.1.x86_64'. The highest available version is already installed.
Resolving package dependencies...
Nothing to do.
The other error has to do with the scan configuration and I can’t find a way to solve it:
----------------------
| Scan Configuration |
----------------------
hpaio HPLIP-SANE-Backend REQUIRED - 3.19.12 OK 'hpaio found in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf'
error: NOT FOUND OR FAILED TO LOAD! Please reinstall HPLIP and check for the proper installation of scanext.
error: scanext Scan-SANE-Extension REQUIRED - 3.19.12 MISSING 'scanext needs to be installed'
I don’t know if it’s because of these errors or not but I can’t setup my printer (HP Envy 6030).
Anyone has any suggestions on how to proceed to get a valid installation of HPLIP on Leap 15.2.
Cheers.
