I’ve got a little further, I uninstalled iscan-free reinstalled iscan 2.26.03.ltdl7, iscan-data 1.4.0-1 and iscan-plugin-gtf700 2.1.0-3.c2 from avasys.jp
ran iscan from a terminal and the greem light on the scanner started flaching, no gui poped up.
but a bug report was made, here it is :-
