Enlightenment installation

Hi!

I am a fresh openSuse Leap 15.2 user. I have installed today this OS on my laptop with the Base Window manager option.
I would like to use the Enlightenment Window manager, so I installed that from here: https://software.opensuse.org/package/enlightenment
The installation is done. But I can’t see the new Window manager in work.
What should I do more to get that in use?

You have to switch it on the login page…

Not in grub, on the loginpage to your DE.
Do not use autologin…

There is no button or list or anything to do that. I can see only username and password.

I think the problem solved itself when i installed gnome x11 package.

Installing Gnome probably switched you to GDM for the login.

Before that, you were probably using “lightdm”, where you can select the desktop with a small icon near top right of the screen.

Are you sure you want just the Enlightenment WM or do you actually want the full DE?
If you want the full DE,
You’ll want to install the full enlightenment pattern… Using either zypper or YaST Softeware Manager.

TSU

Yeah, I want to install the full enlightenment WM with its full environment.
I would appreciate a good help to achieve that.
What is DE?

Use Yast Software Management.

Choose the “Patterns” view. If you do not have a TAB for “Patterns”, then click the “View” button (toward the top left) and select “Patterns” there.

Then look in the “Graphical Environments” section. There is an entry for “Enlightenment”. Select that.

DE - Desktop Environment. WM is Windows Manager and is just the code to manage GUI windows it is not the full desktop

Thanks, in that case I want the full DE too.
