Encrypted partition auto enter pasphrasse

Is it possible to have crypted partition without having to enter pasphrase at startup? It is a server, and sometimes i have to restart it remotely so i cant enter pasphrase then.

Is it possible? Possibly, but you do realize this somewhat negates the
benefit of encryption, right? Depending on which partition it is and what
it mounts to you could possibly have it not ever mount by default and then
always mount it once you are booted, but that also depends on the
encryption you are using and if you are encrypting something like /home or
/ it may just not be possible at all.

Good luck.

Mmm, maybe using a “keyfile” instead a “password” as a method to unlock the
encrypted volume.

I am thinking this kind of setup could be useful for companies that want
extra security by forcing all users to carry out an external usb dongle
that holds the keyfile and so avoid the use of passwords :-?

However, I am not sure if this is possible neither how to achieve it O:-)
