so i just updated to 6.1 kernel and before when i would turn on my computer ide get my grub password prompt then ide get my disk encryption password prompt before the login screen and that was fine but NOW after 6,1 it only asks for my grub password and no longer requires my encrypted password before boot is this new or a bug?

If I am understanding the question, then that change occurred 2-3 weeks ago, before kernel 6.1. When you give the encryption key to grub, it now has a way of passing that along to the kernel so that you are not asked again. It is not a bug.
