Emacs without Icons

Hi,

I installed Leap 42.2 with KDE last weekend. Emacs (24.3.1) shows the usual drop-down menus and a gray area below them, where I expect icons for various purposes, such as closing a buffer. There are no icons, however. The functionality seems to be still there: depending on where I click, the current buffer is closed or a file select dialog appears. I sometimes even get a fly-over hint.

How can I get the icons back?

Thanks, Stephan

PS: This worked fine with Leap 42.1 (and all previous versions of OpenSuSE I used)

I am not a KDE user and I do not use Emacs but maybe it is a theme issue. What happens if you change the theme? I guess Emacs uses Gtk. I had the problem that some themes are broken with the update to Gtk 3.20.

I tried several other themes, to no avail.
I noticed that I get a warning when I start emacs:

Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
        Using the fallback 'C' locale.
(emacs:2868): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme directory base/ of theme oxygen has no size field

Is that related? Language is set to en_US.

Thanks, Stephan
