Editing XF86Config

I recently got a VA2226w Viewsonic monitor with the understanding that opensuse 10.2 would recognize at boot. This is not the case. It only works in vesa framebuffer mode (currently as a generic lcd). I’m told that this can be fixed by editing FX86Config but I don’t know how to do it. note: No linux driver is available from Viewsonic. I can’t even check the cd manual because it won’t open. Can any one describe the edit changes?

Hi
You should be able to add the monitor via YaST graphics card/monitor
there is a button with ‘utility disk’ this should get the inf file
information so you can add the monitor.

The file to modify is /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Sounds like the refresh rates are incorrect, there should be
information on the website if you don’t have xpdf or adobe installed on
your system to open the pdf manual on the cd.

The cd cannot be opened. dmesg reads ‘bad option “fs=cdfss”’. modprobe cannot find module cdfss. Rates are available in monitor specs. Current settings are within that range. How about the modes entry, etc? Or should I just change the frequencies?
