Hello, this is my first time. I did try to search for some answers, but can’t seem to find some pretty simple info. I used the server link to install leap. It then asked if I wanted a GUI or a server. I chose GUI (XFCE) as I am still new at linux and servers in general. So I am confused. What did I install? Is there a package that contains all of the server stuff or a way to test? Yes, these are very noob questions! This just a play/learning computer (actually a vm on Proxmox). I guess I just need a place to start, is there a command that will tell me if the various programs like python, pip, mysql and/or whatever is necessary for a web server and file manager. Mostly web though, as I am hoping to add a NAS later.
Thank you in advance for any lights you might point for me!
Server role currently defaults to the following patterns: enhanced_base yast2_basis yast2_server. When you install Xfce pattern, yast2_servrer pattern is not installed. It contains YaST2 modules to assist in configuration of various servers (like DHCP, DNS etc).
Use YaST > Software > Software Management and then from the View button (somewhere left-up) choose the Patterns view. Scroll down to Server Functions and you will find some of what you want. E.g. Web- and LAMP server. Such Patterns are in fact lists of products that you probably want when installing the server function. You see them at right. You can alter them wenn wanted and then install all by clicking lower-right Accept.
