My guess is that my issue has been existing but I hadn’t quite pinged it until this morning.
I always play music in amarok or play movies and previously ripped music videos through VLC. That’s more than kept me happy. Last night (after fixing my wireless internet) I bumped into a thread about audio not working during dvd playback, and making sure said person was using the xine engine. I can’t find that thread today, but I did decide to put a dvd in this morning just so I would know if it worked,and boom! PERFECT video. No audio at all. Thought at first it might be amarok. So i closed amarok and ensured that smplayer, kaffeine and VLC weren’t open. Opened up xine tried again. can hear the faint whisper in my speakers but nothing. Checked all volume controls, mutes, nothing. Tried all other players. Exact same problem. Is this a known bug or are there things i need to type in terminal to give you guys a bit more info? Thanks for the help!
