I can’t now start w10 in dual boot grub. The grub entry for windows “Windows Boot Manager (on /dev/sda2)” returns an error message below::
“grub-core/loader/i386/pc/chainloader c213 - invalid signature”
w10 still runs fine. If I go to bios and start boot option “Windows Boot Manager (P1:TOSHIBA140)”, w10 starts fine. So there is no windows problem.
With no effect, I have tried running “grub-mkconfig”. I have tried modifying entries in “grub-optimizer”. I have also edited the windows entry config file in “/etc/grub.d”.
I think the key is finding cause of the “c 213” error.
thanks for any help. tom kosvic
Is Secure Boot enabled? If so, turn it off, and try again.

secure boot is disabled in the bios and has been for a long time. dual boot worked perfectly for literally years. I did do a “timeshift” restore a week or so ago. Perhaps that is important.

That could be, depending on what was “timeshift restored”. But, how about firing up YaST - System - Bootloader, change delay by one second, make sure that "Probe for foreign(?) OS is checked. Accept and your bootloader will be rewritten. Reboot and let know if this fixed it.
I did bootloader rebuild with yast by changing time 1 second. No change, still still got c 213 invalid signature error. Probe for foreign was checked. Secure boot was unchecked.
Search for c213 error also says it is related to secure boot but secure boot has been off “forever”.
I guess I can live with this problem. On a change of OS (dual boot) I just need to go through the bios boot options rather than having grub handle it. I thought there might be a simple fix but everything still works.
thanks, tom kosvic
Be sure fast boot is off in Windows. Window updates have been known to turn them back on
will check on fast boot reactivation in w10. thanks for the tip.
