I am currently running a Dell 1420 laptop, and booting off of an external hard drive, Live cd had resolution issues, easily fixed, then wireless worked flawlessly, installed no problem, after install, it just dropped me into the console, I was able to fix the problem, after that wifi failed, after restart still didn’t work… and after about an hour and starting it up, again it worked… and still does flawlessly.
After that I downloaded the nvidia driver for 64 bit from nvidia, and after that, I ran the file as root, it checked itself, it was all good and then It said I didn’t have binutils installed, so I went to the package manager and It spent one minnute downlad some info and then it said that It could not get the last part of a file, and I just hit ignore and went into the package mangager and it said that I did have binutils installed, but I don’t have a progam called “ld” installed, and as of the fact that I do not know a lot about OpenSUSE having moved from PC BSD to Ubuntu and now to OpenSUSE I do not know a lot about the package management system.
Normally I don’t have much problem installing the driver manually, I did it on Ubuntu, and have had no problems, however Ubuntu itself has plenty of other issues, for which reasons I wanted to try OpenSUSE, which I really like quite a bit.

Intel Wireless, embedded.
8 Series Nvidia gfx card.
Intel Centrino Duo cpu
100gb Hard drive:
ext3 / partition
xfs /home partition
And the computer I eventually plan on upgrading is a custom built desktop:
AMD Athlon 5000+ Black Edition.
Nvidia 9600 GSO
Hawking Wireless USB card with ralink drivers
500gb Hard drive, planning on running raid with another 500gb
