Downloaded wine, but can't find the program?

I downloaded Wine, but I can’t find the program, i can see it when i look in software manager but it’s no where else.

I want to play sims 3, but I can’t use wine as I can’t find it :’(

First open a terminal and type this and hit enter

winecfg

set it to use xp and sound to ALSA
Apply

to run a .exe insaller, do this

wine ./setup.exe

What you had downloaded ? tar.gz ??
I recommend you to install via package manager.
open Yast-> software -> software management

search filter-> wine
what is the wine version installed ? check available version ( which is shown in the parenthesis )
ex. wine 1.0.1 ( 1.1.3 )
If not shown latest (1.1.3) or not installed latest version … then follow this

  • press ctrl+M (=repository manager )
  • add new repository
  • select community repository
  • check mark on WINE
it will refresh the package manager.
After pressing OK, it redirects to the “install software”.
again search filter type “wine”. select the wine among the search results
right click on it, select “update”.

now you installing latest WINE
