Dolphin thumbnauil

Guys, this question may have been asked earlier so apologize for re posting it.

I have installed the necessary stuff for video/image thumbnail viewing but I just cannot seem to get it.

Help appreciated.

Have you clicked on the “Preview” button?

In addition, navigate to Settings → Configure Dolphin → General -->Previews tab → Show previews for

Place a check mark next to the items that you want a preview image. Click on the “OK” button to confirm.

Yeah I have done all that but no luck. I have Mplayerthumbs / kffmpegthumb , kdemultimedia , graphics , suse has been updated too.

Try navigating to View → View Mode → Icons And then… View → Adjust View Properties. Ensure that Preview has a check mark.

Also, you may have to increase the zoom. If the zoom is too low, the thumbnails do not show up.

tried everythng

Follow up

Please ensure that under Dolphin Preferences → General → Behavior tab select “Use common view properties for all folders”. Click on “Apply” and “OK” buttons.

Next to the “Behavior” tab select “Previews” tab — under ---- “Do not create previews for”
Local files above: Increase from 3 to 15 MB

Click on the “Apply” and “OK” buttons. Now try toggling the Preview button on and off. It should be working. My Dolphin is working.

Finally… Navigate to View → Panels → Information. This allows you to view file information on the right side of Dolphin.

If all else fails try reinstalling KDE from Yast by selecting the repo name then “Package” → “All in This List” → “Update unconditionally”.

Well still nothing and kaffiene wants codecs when all codecs are installed. I had faced this problem in Arch Linux , will try reinstalling kde.

will try reinstalling kde.
Totally unnecessary

then ?
I have mplayerthumb / kdemultimedia / kffmpegthumb all installed.

mplayerthumb
kdemultimedia

One or the other, not both

Does not matter I am using thunar

Yes

I thought we were talking kde/dolphin

Let me apologize, I mean I am using Thunar and Nautilus under Kde. I have tried your method of using just one thumbnailer but now I cannot find mplayerthumbs (need to uninstall it).

And if you use dolphin?

But in the subject line you ask about dolphin, and thus you get people that
know about kde. For thunar you need people that know about xfce, and for
nautilus, gnome.

AFAIK Thunar does not display thumbnails from videos, but nautilus does. I
think you need “nautilus-gnome-mplayer-properties-page” installed.

Oops I confused everyone. I was using Dolphin in Kde , but due to not able to do anything about the preview’s I installed Thunar and Nautilus and using them in Kde.

But even they do not show all previews.

I guess I need to figure out the way to remove mplayer thumbs probably will try rpm -e. and then re-install kdemultimedia.

I think the problem is more just a lack of knowledge and general Linux experience.

 I have been using Suse since 95-96 , just last 3-4 years I have not touched Linux as I had gone off Open Source IT services but I am getting back into it.

Ya so it feels all new.

can someone please tell me where I can find the MPlayerThumbs package in openSUSE??? I have been going mad trying to find it, i have the packman repos enabled, also libdvdcss and when I search in Yast/Zypper it just doesn’t show up, I also have the main OSS and nonoss repos enabled so where di you guys above get the mplayerthumbs package??
