that cannot send a report

I also tried to launch dolphin from konsole

eros@localhost:~> dolphin
kf.kio.workers.trash: Directory "/dati/.Trash-1000" exists but didn't pass the security checks, can't use it
^C
eros@localhost:~>

how can I have a working dolphin??

It does that on porpoise… :wink:

Who own’s /dati/.Trash-1000? Just delete that file…

the user was the owner, deleted, dolphin crashed again one time, then no more, I’ll check later if it crash again

I bet it would not have crashed if you had Shift-Del’ed the /dati/.Trash-1000 .

Some explanation, of that last post:

  • the Trash bin is /dati/.Trash-1000
  • You are user id 1000
  • From Dolphin Del / Delete XYZ is defined to not actually delete, but move to the Trash bin.
  • Shift-Del ( or some Dolphin context menu item ) bypasses the Trash bin and actually deletes XYZ from the filesystem.
  • So with an attempt to Del from Dolphin we try to remove the Trash bin by throwing it , in the Trash bin that is supposed to be no longer there,

yes I shift>deleted that file :grinning:

Who is “it”?
What is “that”?
Why is “it” doing “that” only at small dolphin-like cetacean?
SCNR :slight_smile:

BTW
However pretty professional of Dolphin to allow users doing that,
and after that providing such valuable information.
(==> Issue for Dolphin?)

Pretty useless comment, unless you are reporting this as a bug on Dolphin’s upstream.

it=dolphin
that= /dati/.Trash-1000 file
why a (small) mammal suggested to do it to that :grinning:
scnr me too :smiley:

I might think this exaclty applies to your post…

But it isn’t, as it reveals you (@knurpht) don’t understand.

But wait… I do explain for you:

My post was meant…

  1. … that I didn’t understand @malcolmlewis statement.
    I couldn’t see the references of it.
  2. … as a statement to 3 Dolphin’s failings (if not bugs)
  3. … as a suggestion/ question to maybe log it.

You understanding knurpht?

Why would I? I don’t know whether it’s a bug, cannot reproduce, so cannot come up with output.
Which 3 Dolphin failings?
All I tried to do is use some logic to explain what happened. Which might help the OP if they want to report a bug.
