Dolphin 1.5.9 won't restart

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening. I am able to start Dolphin normally either via keyboard shortcut or application launcher menu.

However if I close or exit out of the application I am then unable to open it again. Instead I get a bouncy icon and and spinning circle in the task bar and then nothing …

Running a ps aux | grep from the CLI gives me the following processes that must be manually killed before I can reopen Dolphin.

icarus@linux-xjxa:~> ps aux | - Anonymous - xbswAMYR - Pastebin.com

any suggestions? I have tried disabling nepomuk and strigi thinking that might have been an issue but I still get the same problem. I also tried removing dolphinrc and dolphin from ~/.kde4/share/config and ~/.kde4/share/apps respectively… still no bueno.

I am running KDE Trunk repos on 11.3 x86_64

I’m getting it too in my 11.4 kde4.6

Konqueror is OK

-open a terminal
-launch dolphin
-leave the terminal open…
-you may see errors during the opening, copy paste them to here
-use Dolphi a while
-then still leave the terminal open and close the Dolphin window
-now there may be exit errors thrown to the terminal, copy/past them also
-tell us which errors come when
-hope a guru who knows enough comes by and tells you what to do next…

let me suggest both of you do kinda like i suggested, compare the
results and one log a bug, and the other comment (giving all
hardware/software details)

Ok done all,

When I initially open dolphin from the terminal I get these errors.

icarus@linux-xjxa:~> dolphin - Dolphin 1.5.9 opened from terminal with errors - vuqTVYWt - Pastebin.com

Then I used it for a while and closed it down however the terminal just hung and I had to ctrl-C out of it.

In all fairness I think he was trying to help me out… thanks to you and all who did help…

I had already submitted a bug report before I posted here, so not sure what to do… here is the link though.

Also are you having any issues with k3b on your build?

Honestly I have not tried it and I would tend not to use a burner at this stage, least not for anything important. But I will check it out later. I may well have k3b from Packman Factory though.

if you and i were the ONLY two in this thread you would have a valid
point…

but, since there is another poster here (with a full 27 days in the
fora) asking for help, not so much…

Yeah my k3b from the trunk repos crashes immediately upon startup, I get the splash screen and then a error report window.

Additionally, my amarok started displaying the same behavior as Dolphin… so I decided to downgrade back down to the KDE factory repo… I’m way too inexperienced to be running trunk right now. I’ll just wait till 4.6 trickles down to the factory repo, hopefully will work better on my box then.

cheers.
