Do I need Kleopatra? I didn't ask for it so why has it appeared on my system?

This app has crept it’s way onto my system in a manner similar to “discover,” which I have now made Taboo.

I have not knowingly used Kleopatra and it keeps popping up, taking time and attention.
Is it required or taking the place of something? Can I live without it?

I prefer to use “kgpg”. I don’t currently have “kleopatra” installed.

You can try uninstalling it, and see if that causes any conflicts. If not, just taboo it. If something really requires it in the future, that would generate a conflict message that you would probably notice.

Kgpg is what I have used before. Will do as you suggest.
Many thanks,

It’s part of the KDE applications bundle, just as Discover. If you remove it and keeps coming back, you will have to taboo it, since every time the pattern gets an update, your system will try to pull it.

Many thanks. I have tabooed it thanks.

Many thanks hui. I don’t use any of the PIM suite from KDE so have taboo’d Kleopatra.

That explains why I don’t have it.

For this install (of Leap 15.6), I deselected all of PIM other that “akregator”.
