Dictionary German-English

Hello everyone,
very short question if you know any standalone (does not need permanent internet connection to work) German-English dictionary that one can install in opensuse?

Regards
Alex

I use ding (package name is also ding).

PC: oS 12.2 x86_64 | i7-2600@3.40GHz | 16GB | KDE 4.8.5 | GTX 650 Ti
ThinkPad E320: oS 12.2 x86_64 | i3@2.30GHz | 8GB | KDE 4.9.4 | HD 3000
eCAFE 800: oS 11.4 i586 | AMD Geode LX 800@500MHz | 512MB | lamp server

thanks I will try it and if needed post back. One more think though. Which are the packages for german dictionary for opera and openoffice. How to make those make the distinction between English and German ?

Alex

+1 for ding. It is based on the beolingus database from TU-Chemnitz if I remember correctly.
The German dictionary for Open-/Libreoffice should be myspell-german or something like that. For Opera I do not know.

in any textprocessor the language is an attribute of the text.
You can assign it as you assign formats such as bold /italic/
or the like. Opera I don’t know what you are looking for.

Hello everyone,
thanks for the info. Ding indeed does the work.

  1. Do you know if there are more languages for the ding availalbe?

  2. Any thesaurus for Deutsch Enlish language? (Even though ding does a bit of the trick)

3 Finally can you help me set the dictionary check for opera, openoffice and !most! importantly for the Lyx (Latex document processor)?
