Desktop shifted on KDE

Hi
I just installed Opensuse 10.3 with KDE and have a problem with my
desktop.
The tool bar at the bottom of the screen starts exactly at the left of
the screen and goes to the right, but everything above has only a cut
off width (windows, the desktop background) because at the right edge of
the screen is a ~10 cm width grey bar.
Can anyone tell me what happened and how I make the desktop covering
the whole screen again?

I think you are using KDE 4.0.x. In the right upper corner you’ll find
a little yellow button, bubble, whatever. Click on it and select Zoom
In.
Hope that helps.
Good luck.

I can’t see such a bubble. I made a screenshot with this bar at the
right, hopes that helps:

It could be an External Taskbar. If you right click the gray bar do you
get an options menu? I think you will see a remove Taskbar option.

No, there are no right (or left) click options.

Open a console and type these commands:

xrandr -q
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

You can cut and paste the output, and post here. That may be helpful.

There is another command called xwininfo that can provide X window
sizes. Type

xwininfo

in console, then click on the desktop area. It will report various
attributes including desktop size in pixels which can then be compared
to current resolution.

Everything looks ok there (from resolution and pixel perspective). If
running KDE3, have a look at this ‘thread’ (http://tinyurl.com/8e7wrg).
Not sure what else to offer here.
