Desktop Screen Larger Than Monitor's Visible Area - NVIDIA Control Panel Lacks Size Adjustment Option

I’m facing an issue where my desktop screen is larger than the visible area of my monitor, causing parts of the display to be cut off. I’ve set the resolution to the maximum supported by my monitor, but the problem persists. In the NVIDIA Control Panel, I can’t find an option to adjust the desktop size or scaling, which I believe is available in Windows display settings on some systems.
My setup is running OpenSUSE 15.6, and I’m using an NVIDIA GPU 2060.
How can I fix this overscan issue and make the desktop fit within my monitor’s visible area?

Have you checked the monitor settings first?

my monitor is viewsonic 32. it has no this function to adjust the size. on windows system.i use nvidia control pannel to adjust the visible area.

Ok, I was suspicious that the issue is related to the Viewsonic monitor itself…

It could be due to the monitor’s EDID (essentially misreporting to the driver).

Anyway, what is reported by xrandr?

Based on your last topic describing this issue, the output you shared revealed you’re using a “ViewSonic XG3240C” monitor. I examined the XG3240C User Guide and it does mention ‘Overscan’ and ‘Scale Adjust’ in the guide as adjustments that can be made in the monitor menu settings.

Why xwayland?

I’m running here a Nvidia 3050 with nvidia G06 570 from the Repo on X11 without any xwayland:

Nvidia and wayland on Leap 15.6 is not the best choice…
It does not run here.

@Sauerland: That is just along for the ride as part of the ride ie having a Wayland DE installed. If the TO is not using Wayland it is inconsequential.
