Desktop folder management with KDE

In OS 13.2 my desktop icons were directly on the desktop. Now with 42.1 they are in a desktop folder. I can neither move that desktop folder around nor expand it, although there are scrollbars to allow me to access each desktop item. I would rather my desktop items be directly on the desktop rather than in a desktop folder. Is there a way to do that ? Is there a way to expand the desktop folder itself or move it around in the desktop area instead ?

If I understand what you want correctly…

Right click desktop > Unlock widgets
Right click desktop > Desktop Settings
Set “Layout” to be “Folder View”
Close settings window
Right click desktop > Folder View Settings
Click “Location”
Set appropriate path that you want

Then you can delete the desktop widget if you don’t like it.

Hope that helps.

openSUSE Tumbleweed 64 bit
Plasma 5

Note that with the change from KDE 4 to 5 the desk top settings have both changed location and in most case file format so you can not inherit 4’s settings. Got to set things up again

Worked nicely. Thank you !
