cupsd keeps cpu @ 100%

fwiw

after updates this week, cupsd causes one cpu to go to 100% after booting

the following two cmds seems to resolve the anomally,

A780GM-m1<2015Feb27><17:18></run/media/michael/SDisk-8GB> sudo rccups stop
root’s password:
Warning: Stopping cups.service, but it can still be activated by:
cups.path
cups.socket
A780GM-m1<2015Feb27><17:46></run/media/michael/SDisk-8GB> sudo rccups restart

anyone any idea why this has started to happen?

anyone have a better solution?

cheers

more observations,

this event occurs only when a usb printer is attached and powered

it is not seen when only network printing is required

has anyone else seen this event after the latest updates?

cheers

NB.

  1. during this event the usb printer cannot be seen via -System Settings --Printers
  2. printing to the usb printer is possibe via kwrite but not via libreoffice

NB.

after updating tw today cannot replicate the event
