I would like to know if someone was able to run compiz with nvidia driver on any beta version? If yes, which version(s)?
I run Beta2 right now and compiz does run, but none of the effects are working. I wonder if I have a problem with xgl, apparently it is not running, but I cannot find how to start-stop/enable-disable it, so I can’t test much. Tried to play with xorg and displaymanager files, but no success.
So has anyone on a nvidia succeeded in running compiz with effects, like cube, wobbly windows, animations, etc.?
If I don’t get an answer I will file a bug, maybe there is truly one on my setup.
nvidia and ati repos are not available for 11.1 yet
the ati repo did not come on line for suse 11.0 untill rc1 probably the same with nvidia just wait and test what you can. I don’t have 3d capabilities yet either but there are a lot of other things I can test Testing:Features 11.1 - openSUSE
What do I need the nvidia repo for? I have installed the proprietary driver from nvidia’s site and as far as I know that’s all I need to do (that was the case with 10.3 full release)
That being said, maybe there are some other packages needed to support nvidia 3d acceleration that are usually installed with a full release version and not included in Betas. If yes then that explains why all 3d effects are not working.
Yes there are quite a lot more to test, a lot I have done already, but still some to go. I will wait for RCx release before trying out 3d and will concentrate on other tests.
